Subclinical Cardiomyopathy?

Ventricular non-compaction, also known as "hypertrabeculation syndrome", is a genetic disorder which leads to a sponge-appearance of the left ventricular myocardium. Echocardiography is the main tool for making the diagnosis. If in doubt, magnetic resonance can be applied. There is not a lot of literature on the sequels of this abnormality but some patients develop cardiomyopathy. Watch this patient demo so that you will recognize the pathology when you see it.
