What you will learn
Pulmonary scanning is one of the newest and most exciting areas of pediatric ultrasound. We can reliably identify pneumothorax, pleural effusion, pulmonary edema, and pneumonia by simply looking for lung artifacts and other unique sonographic findings. As you differentiate a seashore sign from a bar-code sign, or a spine sign from mirror artifact, you will learn how to capably scan the pediatric thoracic cavity. The module also provides a step-by-step protocol to reliably diagnose your pediatric patients’ respiratory pathology.
- The role of the pleural line in pulmonary ultrasound
- Seashore and barcode signs
- The specificity of the lung point
- Pleural effusions and the spine sign
- B-lines and the diagnosis of pulmonary edema
- The sonographic appearance of pneumonia
- Applying an algorithm to pulmonary ultrasound findings
