What you will learn
Get ready to scan for appendicitis, intussusception, and pyloric stenosis at the bedside. In this chapter, we provide a step-wise approach to the appendix; how to find it and how to determine if it is pathologic. Intussusception scanning is broken down into an easy, methodical scan through the four quadrants of the abdomen. You will soon be able to quickly identify the transverse and longitudinal appearance of an ileo-colic intussusception. The final section covers your pediatric neonates who present with vomiting. A highly sensitive and specific scan of the gastric pylorus allows you to quickly rule in or rule out pyloric stenosis.

- Intussusception in transverse and longitudinal
- Small bowel intussusceptions: size and appearance
